All students who wish to audition for the 2011 All-State Choirs must turn in the All-State Participation Contracts by this day. There are no exception!!!! No contract, no audition!!!
Students auditioning for the National Honor Choirs at the American Choral Director's Association National Conference in Chicago, IL in March must have their audition recordings completed by today. All auditions must be recorded in either GarageBand on a Mac or Audacity on a PC and submitted online. These audition recordings will be submitted by Mr. Stroh on this day.
The first concert of the year for the Center for the Arts showcases the talents of the vocal, dance, theatre, strings and band departments. The concert will serve as a preview of things to come for the upcoming school year. This is one of your few opportunities to see students from all departments on the same stage.
Vocal students wishing to earn a spot in the 2011 Florida Vocal Association All-State Choir must participate in the first round of the All-State audition process. The round will include a theory test and a sight singing test. You must pass both tests in order to move on to round two.
There is a great deal of material on the Florida Vocal Association website to help students prepare for these tests. The website is www.fva.net Look in the ALLSTATE section for past tests, vocabulary and past sight singing exercises. You should also make use of www.musictheory.net to practice intervals, chords and key signatures.
Any student wish to participate in FVA Solo & Ensemble must turn in their registration form by today. The form is located in the Vocal Department Handbook. Anyone not turning in the form by today's deadline will not be registered for the event.
The first choral concert of the year will feature Cypress Chorale, Intermezzo Women's Choir, Concert Choir and The A Cappella Group. A wide variety of music will be performed from Baroque to Contemporary Pop and everything in between. The Cypress choirs perform to the highest standards and this should be a concert not to be missed.
Round 2 of the FVA All-State Audition Process consists of the Vocal Quality test and Music Knowledge Check. All students that have qualified for round two must learn all of the Senior High music and perform it at this audition. Students must demonstrate knowledge of all songs in order to pass the Music Knowledge portion. Students are also evaluated on their vocal quality and given a numerical score.

This third annual charity concert will feature the theatre, dance, vocal, orchestra, band and visual arts departments presenting a wide variety of both holiday and more standard works. All proceeds will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank and Ronald McDonald House of SW Florida.

The vocal department Cabaret provides the opportunity for members of the vocal department to show off their skills in the music they love best. Students will perform a wide variety of music, ranging from Opera to Rock and Roll.
All vocal department members are required to attend this cabaret.
This Florida Vocal Association event is the District Music Performance Assessment. Choirs are evaluated on a statewide standard. Choirs will perform two pieces on stage and then move to a room to perform sight reading exercises. All performances are open and free to the public.
All members of Cypress Chorale and Intermezzo are required to participate in this event that is worth two performance grades.
